Car blasts near Red Fort in Delhi, at least 8 dead, capital city on high alert

A call was received regarding an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, after which three to four vehicles also caught fire and sustained damage. A total of 7 fire tenders have reached the spot. A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell has also reached the spot. Further details awaited said Delhi Fire Department.
After the explosion, a high alert has been sounded in the Capital. Eight dead and several Injuries are feared in the blast, reported news agency ANI. The injured were rushed to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital
Videos accessed from the scene of the incident show multiple cars burning and a crowd surrounding the cars.
Authorities said the fire has been extinguished, and the cooling work is in progress.
The blast reportedly took place in a car outside the Lal Quila metro station. So far no details are available on what caused the explosion. Security personnel have cordoned off the area where the explosion took place.
