As per the official press release of the MoD, India has neutralised an Air Defence System at Lahore. As per reports, the Air Defence System neutralised in Lahore is Chinese made HQ9.

Regarding Pakistani misadventure, the Ministry informed that it thwarted Pakistan’s attempt to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Amritsar which was abuzz with loud noises on the intervening night of 7th and 8th May.

It is pertinent to note that after the conclusion of the all party meeting on Thursday, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju asserted that Operation Sindoor was still on.

Regarding the developments on the intervening night of 7th and 8th May, the press release states, “On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks.”

The Ministry of Defence categorically highlighted that during press briefing on Operation Sindoor, India noted that it’s response was “focused, measured and non-escalatory”, reminding that it had noted in the same press briefing that any attack on military targets in India will invite a suitable response.
