At least 200,000 gather for the latest edition of Red Line protest in Amsterdam
At least 200,000 people gathered in Amsterdam at the Red Line demonstration in Amsterdam, protesting the Dutch government’s policy towards Israel. Many demonstrators are dressed in red and are bearing banners including “Free Palestine” and “No Dutch Support for Apartheid.”
The march begins and ends at Museumplein, where a large stage for speeches has been set up. The route runs around Vondelpark.
The participants are demanding stronger action against Israel. “I still believe that the Netherlands is not doing enough. This is already the third time I have taken part in this march,” one woman told NOS. “It probably makes very little difference, but it is the only thing you can do.” Former politicians Job Cohen and Jozis van Aartsen are also participating.
This is the fourth time the Red Line demonstration has been organized. At the previous demonstration, held in October last year, an estimated 250,000 people took part. Thirteen organizations are participating this time, including Oxfam Novib, Amnesty International, and Save the Children.
