Tennessee has been the worst affected state, with at least 10 deaths occurring since the storms began.

At least 16 people have been killed in a wide swath of violent storms, flooding and tornadoes that hit the South and Midwest.

Rivers rose and flooding worsened across the U.S. South and Midwest, threatening communities already waterlogged and badly damaged by days of heavy rain and wind that killed at least 18 people.

Tornadoes and flooding have killed more than a dozen people in parts of the South and Midwest.

Numerous storms across the United States caused severe flooding and saw 16 people die, including a nine-year-old child. The National Weather Service warned further storms were expected on Sunday.

The Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed 10 weather-related deaths in the past week after several days of severe weather, including tornadoes and flooding across Tennessee.
