April 19 (UPI) -- A 44-year-old Los Angeles area woman is in custody on charges of trafficking arms on behalf of the Iranian government, federal prosecutors said Sunday.

Shamim Mafi, 44, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday night for allegedly trafficking deadly drones and bombs for Tehran.

Prosecutors also accused Shamim Mafi of facilitating deals involving Iranian-made weapons, including drones, bomb fuses and millions of rounds of ammunition destined for Sudan.

Shamim Mafi, 44, was charged by the US Attorney's Office for the Central District of California with conducting arms transactions without legal authorisation

An Iranian-born immigrant who became a lawful permanent resident alien under the Obama administration was arrested and charged with brokering arms sales on behalf of the Iranian Government.
