President Donald Trump has fired several members of his National Security Council team, Axios reported Thursday.

National security advisor Mike Waltz and his office have repeatedly come under fire since news broke on the Signal chat leak with a journalist.

The US President's move has come after far-right activist Laura Loomer's recommendation to purge staffers she deemed insufficiently committed to his Make America Great Again agenda.

During the 30-minute meeting, the far-right activist excoriated National Security Council officials in front of the president and Michael Waltz, the national security adviser.

Trump downplayed Loomer's influence on the firings. “Always we’re letting go of people,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One as he made his way to Miami on Thursday afternoon.
