Police responded to an active shooting Saturday on campus at Brown University in Providence, according to the school’s alert system.

In an emergency alert, the school told students and faculty to lock doors, silence phones and hide. A suspect was in custody.

Officials said the suspect in the shooting was still not in custody. Brown University has urged people to shelter in place until further notice.
