Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A $15 billion lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump against the New York Times was rejected by a federal judge Friday.

A federal judge today struck Donald Trump’s $15 billion defamation lawsuit against the New York Times over its content, calling it a “decidedly improper” effort to attack an adversary.

A US federal judge took issue with the contents of Trump's lawsuit against the newspaper and gave him 28 days to amend it.

The judge gave the US President 28 days to refile the lawsuit “in a professional and dignified manner”.

The judge said that the complaint failed to contain a “short and plain statement of the claim.” Mr. Trump has 28 days to refile.

The president's suit has hit an early roadblock.

U.S. District Judge Steven Merryday ruled that the president’s lawsuit was overly long and was full of “tedious and burdensome” language that had no bearing on the legal case.
