The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Andhra Pradesh has arrested Bharati Cements Director Balaji Govindappa in the liquor scam case.

In a major relief to YSR Congress Party MP Mithun Reddy, the Supreme Court on Monday set aside an earlier Andhra Pradesh High Court order that had denied him anticipatory bail in the state liquor policy case.

In yet another development in the alleged liquor scam of the previous YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh, the special investigation team (SIT) on Tuesday arrested Govindappa Balaji, full-time director of Bharati Cements, owned by former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

In a significant development in the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam probe, the Supreme Court quashed the High Court’s denial of anticipatory bail to YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy and restrained his arrest.

The government has now informed the court that Mr. Mithun Reddy has officially been added as an accused in the case.
