Christopher Wray, who has faced repeated criticism from Donald Trump, told FBI employees that he plans to resign when President Joe Biden’s term ends.

FBI Director Christopher Wray announced he is retiring from his post in January at the end of the current administration and, until then, will focus on the agency's mission.

Donald Trump, who nominated Wray after firing the previous FBI director, recently named Kash Patel for the role, although Wray still had three years remaining on his 10-year term.

He was nominated to the post by Donald Trump in 2017, but the president-elect has said he wants to replace him.
