BOSTON >> A federal judge blocked President Donald Trump’s administration from carrying out his executive order to dismantle the U.S. Department of Education and ordered it today to reinstate employees terminated in a mass layoff.

The order issued by a federal judge in Boston also directs officials to reinstate thousands of fired employees.

May 22 (UPI) -- A federal judge in Massachusetts issued an injunction Thursday that blocks the Trump administration from its plan to dismantle the Department of Education, and that those employees recently fired from the department be rehired.

U.S. District Judge Myong Joun said the announced cuts would "likely cripple" the agency.
