Eknath Shinde Resigns: The BJP-led Mahayuti coalition won a landslide victory in the Maharashtra elections, bagging 235 seats. However, the coalition has failed to arrive at a consensus on who should be the next chief minister.

CM Eknath Shinde visited the Raj Bhavan along with deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.

The governor asked Shinde to act as a caretaker chief minister till a new CM is sworn in. The suspense over the chief minister's face continued despite the Mahayuti alliance securing a massive win.

Eknath Shinde’s resignation as Chief Minister was submitted to Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan as the term of the current Assembly ended.
