A lawyer was allegedly killed on Tuesday after clashes in Bangladesh's port city of Chittagong over the arrest of ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das by the autjhorities, lawyers said.

Chinmoy Krishna Das also flashed a victory sign while being taken away in the prison van, even as the police cracked down on hundreds of supporters from the Hindu community protesting against his arrest outside a court.

Bangladesh said that India's statement on the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Das was "unfounded" and stood "contrary to the spirit of friendship".
