The controversy surrounding Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo has escalated further, as the Office of the President confirms the receipt of two additional petitions seeking her removal from office.

The Presidency received new petitions seeking the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, intensifying an already high-profile judicial controversy.

The decision, announced on April 22, follows three petitions calling for her removal and was made in consultation with the Council of State, in accordance with the 1992 Constitution.
