At least 90 people died and 123 others were sent to hospital for treatment, four of whom were in critical or severe condition, state broadcaster CCTV said.

The incident is being described as China’s deadliest coal mine disaster since 2009, when an explosion in Heilongjiang Province claimed 108 lives.
