Trump scheduled to speak to his Russian counterpart for two hours on Tuesday as they seek an answer to a potential ceasefire in Ukraine.

The two world leaders began the highly anticipated call as the US administration is looking to persuade the Russian leader to sign-off on the ceasefire proposal to end the war in Ukraine.

Trump and Putin talked for more than two hours Tuesday.

Crimea’s strategic location has made it a contested territory for centuries. Russia annexed it in 2014, worsening ties with the West. The region remains central to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.
