Renewed fighting erupted overnight into Friday between armed Druze groups and Bedouin clan members in southern Syria.

The United States announced late Thursday that all parties involved in the Syrian conflict had agreed to take “specific steps” to halt the violence, with hopes of de-escalation beginning “tonight.” The statement came hours after Israeli airstrikes hit Damascus, killing at least three people.

Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa on Thursday pledged justice after deadly clashes in the Druze-majority city of Sweida, vowing those behind abuses would be held accountable and announcing that local authorities would be handed responsibility for security.
