May 17 (UPI) -- The World Health Organization has declared a public health emergency of international concern in reaction to an Ebola outbreak in Uganda and the Democratic Republican of the Congo.

The World Health Organization declared the Ebola disease outbreak a public health emergency of international concern after more than 300 suspected cases and 88 deaths.

Some 88 people have died from the highly contagious haemorrhagic fever in the DR Congo, with one death in Uganda, and at least 336 suspected cases.
