ECI ordered repoll in all 285 polling booths of Falta assembly constituency in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district on May 21

In an official statement, the Election Commission said that repolling will take place in all 285 booths across Falta Assembly Consitituency on May 24. The move came after the BJP alleged large-scale EVM tampering in the area.

Repolling, protests and political manoeuvring kept South 24 Parganas tense on Saturday ahead of counting. Allegations of intimidation and trading of charges sharpened the contest as parties prepared for May 4.

West Bengal Assembly elections were held in two phases on April 23 and April 29. Repolling is being conducted in select booths after the Election Commission ordered fresh voting following reports of irregularities and allegations of booth capturing. The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.

The TMC had moved the apex court on Friday seeking the appointment of state government nominees as counting supervisors, alleging this was being denied. Repolling in 15 booths of two assembly constituencies in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district concluded with around 87%

West Bengal repolling: Repolling began today at 11 polling booths in Magrahat Paschim Assembly constituency and four booths in the Diamond Harbour constituency in South 24 Parganas district. The counting of votes is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 4. 

Polling in these two assembly constituencies was held in the second phase of the Bengal elections on April 29.
