Allahabad High Court passed an order stating that grabbing breasts or snapping a pyjama string do not constitute rape or attempt to rape

The Allahabad High Court judge stirred a row after saying that grabbing a girl's breasts or breaking the string of her pyjama and trying to drag her does not amount to charges of rape or an attempt to rape. 

The court held that while the acts were "serious and shameful", they did not meet the legal threshold for attempted rape, warranting trial under "aggravated sexual assault" and disrobing charges instead.

As per the prosecution, the accused men grabbed the breasts of the 11-year-old victim and one of them, namely Akash, broke the string of her pyjama.
