An official at the federal foreign aid agency targeted by the Trump administration with layoffs, cuts and funding obstacles was placed on leave.

March 3 (UPI) -- A senior USAID official was placed on leave after sending a memo telling staff that people would needless die and national security would be massively impacted by the agency's failure to disburse "life-saving humanitarian assistance" under a waiver to the Trump administration's halting of foreign aid.

Nicholas Enrich, USAID's acting assistant administrator for global health, in the seven-page memo shared with staff, said "political leadership" had made it impossible to deliver lifesaving humanitarian assistance around the world.
