Chennai: The political climate in Tamil Nadu has tensed over TVK's majority concerns to form a government with State Congress in-charge Girish Chodankar,

Senior Advocate and Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that the Governor has no alternative but to call Vijay who leads the single-largest party in the state to form the government.

Congress with five MLAs has extended support to the TVK with 107 MLAs and need support of six more MLAs. Therefore, the TVK has reached out to the CPI, CPIM and IUML to gather the required support to form a government.

Actor-politician Vijay's newly formed TVK emerged as the single largest party in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, winning 108 seats. The result marked a sharp break from DMK-AIADMK dominance and set a new benchmark for a debutant party.

Kamal Haasan said Vijay, as leader of the single largest party, should be invited to form the government in Tamil Nadu. He said the majority must be tested on the Assembly floor, warning that any delay disrespects the public mandate.
