Trump says the deal, which permits a larger US military on Greenland, will give the US "permanent control over security and all other needs on that territory".

The United States, Denmark and Greenland on Tuesday signed a security agreement expanding US involvement in Greenland’s defence while affirming Danish sovereignty over the Arctic territory. 

Donald Trump, Mette Frederiksen and Jens-Frederik Nielsen signed a deal expanding the US military role in Greenland. The pact recasts a tense ownership dispute as a long-term Arctic security arrangement.

Under the 10-page pact, the United States will build two military bases in southern and eastern Greenland.
