The Odisha Government's higher education department has ordered a probe regarding the Balasore incident where allegedly harassed by her head of department, a girl student set herself ablaze at a college.

According to fellow students, the woman had been mentally distressed for weeks, allegedly due to persistent harassment by her teacher in Odisha's Balasore.

A second-year college student in Odisha's Balasore set herself ablaze on campus after accusing her HOD of sexual harassment. The student sustained 90 per cent burn injuries and her condition remains to be critical.

The student was suffering from severe mental distress over the alleged sexual harassment and the lack of action against the teacher by both the college administration and the police.
