In a major jolt to the Congress ahead of the Assembly polls in Assam, Bhupen Kumar Borah has resigned, according to sources.

Just before Priyanka Gandhi was to begin her first visit to Assam, former Assam Congress state president Bhupen Bora resigned, sending shock waves through the party.

 Singh said Borah, who has been associated with the Indian National Congress for nearly three decades, had earlier submitted his resignation to the party’s national president.
