Although, the former Punjab Chief Minister also said that his comments should not be interpreted as saying that his political relevance had ended in either the Congress or the BJP.

Sunil Jakhar said he regards Amarinder Singh as his leader after Singh said the BJP does not seek his views on Punjab. The exchange came amid speculation over Singh's political future, which he dismissed while insisting it is his duty to speak to the party on Punjab.
