Gulzar Singh's family members and villagers have said that he came under pressure from members of the village panchayat after expressing his concern over drug sales before the minister.

Gulzar Singh was allegedly pressured after raising drug sales and his son’s ‘chitta’ addiction before state minister Harpal Singh Cheema, who is not named in the FIR.

Singh’s village sarpanch and some other residents had asked him to apologise for questioning the minister. He allegedly consumed poison after facing pressure during a panchayat meeting.
