Health authorities in Kerala on Friday issued an alert across three northern districts after two people showed possible signs of Nipah virus infection, reviving fears of an outbreak that the state has battled in the past.

With two Nipah virus cases confirmed in Kerala, one each in Malappuram and Palakkad, the state government has issued an alert in the two districts, and in Kozhikode. Preventive protocols have also been activated in the state.
