Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, with Egypt seen as a possible future member. Hakan Fidan said the pact mirrors collective defence principles but is not directed at Iran.

The agreement stipulates that an armed attack against any of the three would be regarded as an attack on all.
