Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, at war with the regular army for more than two years, has announced that they have agreed to a proposal for a humanitarian truce put forward by mediators.

The group issued the statement after an 18-month siege of the city of el-Fasher in the western Darfur region.
