April 23 (UPI) -- Two passenger trains crashed head-on in Denmark on Thursday leaving 18 injured, five of them critically, law enforcement officials said.

Two commuter trains have collided head-on near the Danish capital leaving five critically hurt and 13 others with lesser injuries, officials said.

Two trains collided in Denmark early Thursday, leaving five people critically injured in what police called a major incident. The collision occurred around 6:30 a.m. near Hillerød, about 40 kilometers (25 miles) north of Copenhagen.
