Hindutva influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj arrested after CJP protest, remanded to police custody amid serious assault and online threat allegations.

Swatantra Bhardwaj has been remanded to one-day police custody after being produced at a judge's residence at Delhi's Karkardooma Court following an assault on Sanjay Azad.  

His detention comes amid renewed political pressure over the case following the circulation of a podcast in which he appeared to boast about assaulting Sanjay Kumar, the father of student protester Nishu Azad.

The controversy intensified after Bhardwaj spoke about the incident on a viral podcast. He claimed he had "cracked open" the head of the father of a student during the Jantar Mantar protest, alleging that the man received 60 stitches and that the incident could have attracted an attempted murder charge under Section 307.
