Mumbai: Amidst chants of 'Ajit dada amar rahe', NCP Sunetra Pawar, leader of the Nationalist Congress Party and widow of the late Maharashtra Deputy Chief

Sunetra Pawar, leader of the NCP legislative party and wife of late Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, took oath as Deputy CM of Maharashtra at the Lok Bhavan.

NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar on Saturday said he has no knowledge regarding Sunetra Pawar's swearing in as Maharashtra's deputy CM.

Sharad Pawar said he has no information about reports of Sunetra Pawar’s elevation as Deputy Chief Minister, stating that decisions are being taken by senior NCP leaders in Mumbai without his involvement. Meanwhile, the NCP is set to elect Sunetra Pawar as its legislative party leader on Saturday, clearing the way for her to become Maharashtra’s first woman Deputy Chief Minister.

Sunetra Pawar is reportedly set to take the oath as Maharashtra Deputy CM on Saturday. She was elected to the Rajya Sabha unopposed on June 18, 2024, and she is not a member of either state assembly or council. This comes days after, Ajit Pawar died in a tragic plane crash in Baramati.
