Manila: At least 66 people have been killed due to Typhoon Kalmaegi, locally known as Typoon Tino which lashed through central Philippines, local media

Most of the deaths were reported in the central province of Cebu, which was pummelled by Kalmaegi on Tuesday, setting off flash floods and causing a river and other waterways to overflow.

A Philippine military helicopter crashed while en route to support relief operations.

At least 90 people in the central Philippines have died in floods and heavy rains caused by Typhoon Kalmaegi. 75 others are missing. Tens of thousands have been evacuated after rains flooded homes and streets, swept away vehicles and left people trapped on their roofs.

At least 85 people have been killed and hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced as one of the strongest typhoons of the time smashed into the central Philippines, officers said.
