Hemant Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha or JMM has announced that it would not contest the assembly elections in Bihar, a day after declaring that it would go solo and contest six seats in the neighbouring state

The list was released just hours before the filing of nomination papers for the final phase was to be over. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav will contest from the Raghopur assembly seat in Vaishali district.

Despite these overlaps, the stage appears set for what many are terming a “friendly” contest between the allies, who remain caught in a stalemate over seat-sharing.

As per official figures, 1,690 candidates had filed their nominations for the first phase covering 121 constituencies across 18 districts.
