France, Britain and Germany have told Iran they wanted it to resume diplomacy immediately over its nuclear programme and warned if there were no concrete steps by the end of the summer they would restore UN sanctions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has called on European powers to halt threats against Tehran, including warnings about reinstating UN sanctions.

The remarks come after Foreign Minister Araghchi held a conference call with his British, French and German counterparts and EU foreign policy chief.

European powers are warning Iran that time is running out to strike a nuclear deal with the United States, threatening to trigger a UN sanctions snapback if Tehran fails to make verifiable commitments, even as President Donald Trump insists Washington is in no rush for new talks.
