The search for survivors of a capsized ferry in Indonesia has intensified as 17 ships and aircraft from the military, police and other agencies were deployed.

Indonesian rescue teams on Monday deployed specialised underwater teams and navy-operated underwater drones as the search for more than 120 people missing in the Virgo Transport 8 ferry capsizing intensified.

Basarnas, Indonesia's national search and rescue agency, said in its latest update that six people were killed and 129 were missing. It said 108 people had been rescued.
