The company split into two separate teams in 2020 and one of the teams was tasked with bringing Shovel Knight into the 3D realm. However, since 2024 development on Shovel Knight 3D was paused to focus on Mina the Hollower and will shift back in 2026 to focus on Shovel Knight 3D.

- Eventually, leadership ended up splitting time between Shovel Knight 3D and Mina the Hollower
- In 2024, development on Shovel Knight 3D was paused to focus on Mina the Hollower
- The plan in 2026 is to shift focus back to Shovel Knight 3D and combine the two teams into one
