AFCON 2025: Super Eagles player suffers injury, returns to club
by Ganiyu Mubarak · The Eagle OnlineA member of the Super Eagles to the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), Cyriel Dessers, has suffered a thigh injury that has necessitated his return to his club, Panathinaikos of Greece.
This was a part of the injury and illness that hit the Super Eagles camp as they prepared for their Round of 16 clash.
The Super Eagles are due to take on Mozambique on Monday.
Ryan Alebiosu was also down with injury.
Though he was at the team’s training session on Friday, he did not participate as he was recovering from a leg injury.

Tochukwu Nnadi sat out the training as he was down with a cold.
As a result, only 25 players trained on Friday evening.
According to camp sources, Coach Eric Chelle has told the players to put the group stage successes behind them and focus on the knockout phase.
