UCL: McTominay ruled out of Arsenal clash after heart procedure
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineNapoli midfielder Scott McTominay will miss Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League opener against Arsenal after undergoing a successful procedure to correct a heart arrhythmia.
The 29-year-old Scotland international underwent a planned ablation procedure at Spire Manchester Hospital after being diagnosed last week with a mild, benign arrhythmia.
Napoli confirmed that the procedure was successful and said McTominay would observe a rest period of around two weeks before returning to training.
The Italian club said: “McTominay will observe a rest period of around two weeks before resuming training.”
The former Manchester United midfielder is therefore unavailable for Napoli’s Champions League meeting with Arsenal, having already missed Saturday’s 3-2 Serie A defeat by champions Inter Milan.
He is also expected to miss upcoming league fixtures against Bologna and Fiorentina before returning to full training during the next international break.

McTominay has become an important figure for Napoli since joining the club from Manchester United, but his latest setback comes at the start of their Champions League campaign.
Napoli face Arsenal on Wednesday in their opening league-phase fixture, with McTominay expected to continue his recovery ahead of a return to training in about two weeks.
