Three wins in a row can look impressive until the fixtures are opened. Two may have come against struggling sides. Another may have been at home against a team missing key players. The next match can be completely different. Team news, form, sports betting and live scores may all appear around the same fixture, but the useful work starts with the teams themselves.
1. Look Past the Last Five Results
The recent-results column is easy to read and easy to overvalue. A 2-0 win can hide a poor performance. Perhaps both goals came from the only clear chances. A defeat can also look worse than the football actually was.
Before judging a run, check who the opponents were and where the games were played. Three wins against teams near the bottom of the table say something different from three strong matches against leading sides.
