I’m suffering watching Real Madrid under Mourinho — Alcaraz
by Moronfolu Adeyemi · The Eagle OnlineTennis superstar and lifelong Real Madrid supporter Carlos Alcaraz has expressed his frustration with the club’s difficult start to the season under Jose Mourinho, calling for greater intensity from the Spanish giants.
Mourinho’s second spell in charge of Real Madrid has produced mixed results in the opening weeks of the campaign, with the team struggling to find consistency.
Recent defeats to Real Betis and Atletico Madrid have added to the pressure, with the 2-1 loss at the Metropolitano exposing weaknesses in Madrid’s performance.
The dropped points have also allowed Barcelona to move six points clear at the top of the La Liga table.
Speaking to Stats Perform ahead of the Laver Cup in London, Alcaraz admitted that watching his boyhood club has become difficult.
Alcaraz said: “Right now I’m suffering watching the matches because you never know what’s going to happen.
“I would say a little more intensity is needed.”
The tennis star acknowledged the quality within Mourinho’s squad but said Real Madrid must improve as a collective.
He said: “They are Real Madrid, great players, with talent.

“Right now, I see other teams doing better. As a team, they can do better. They have to polish a few things.”
Real Madrid’s lack of intensity has also become a concern in their overall performances, particularly when matches become stretched and the team is required to control transitions.
Mourinho and his coaching staff will now have the international break to work on the issues affecting the side before domestic action resumes.
With Barcelona already holding a six-point advantage at the summit, Real Madrid will need to improve their collective performance when the season resumes.
