Philadelphia 76ers coach Nick Nurse left the team to attend his brother’s funeral.
Steve Nurse, the brother of Philadelphia’s coach, passed away unexpectedly last Wednesday at the age of 62.
The day after the loss in Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals to the New York Knicks (137-98), Nurse went to the funeral. Despite this, he is expected to be ready for Game 2.
Additionally, after the first game, Knicks coach Mike Brown expressed his condolences.
“I’d like to pass my condolences along to Nick Nurse and his family, his brother’s family and all their friends. Life is precious and you don’t wish that upon anybody, so I’d like to pass along my condolences to him and his family while they’re going through these times.”
