Giannis Antetokounmpo and his agent, Alex Saratsis, are in discussions with the Milwaukee Bucks about the two-time NBA MVP’s future, including whether he should stay or explore a move elsewhere, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
A resolution is expected in the coming weeks, which could determine his availability before the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
Antetokounmpo started the season bought into GM Jon Horst and coach Doc Rivers’ championship vision, planning to evaluate the first 25 games before deciding on his long-term future. The Bucks, however, are struggling, sitting 9–13 and 11th in the Eastern Conference, having lost eight of their last nine games.
Over the offseason, the 31-year-old explored options, including a potential move to the New York Knicks.
Milwaukee hoped a strong start would quiet trade speculation, but the Bucks have struggled without Antetokounmpo, going 1–5 in games he missed. With him on the floor, Milwaukee averages 126.9 points per 100 possessions (NBA-leading), versus 107.7 when he’s off it.
This season, Antetokounmpo is averaging 30.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists on 64% shooting, leaving little doubt of his impact—but the team’s struggles have left his future in flux.
