Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron's wife Alexia boards flight as Atlanta deal close

by · ChronicleLive

Just days after making an emotional post on Instagram, as speculation mounted over his Newcastle United exit, Miguel Almiron's wife Alexia Notto boarded a flight out of Tyneside on Thursday morning, hinting that his move to Atlanta United is all but confirmed.

Alexia has been Miggy's biggest supporter, since he left Atlanta to sign for NUFC in 2019; being a regular in the stands at St James' Park, more recently with the couple's young son and also jetting over to Europe for Champions League games and heading to Wembley for the Carabao Cup final in 2023, as Eddie Howe's men lost 2-0 to Manchester United.

United are now just one game away from being back at Wembley, but it now looks like neither Alexia or Miggy himself will be there, as, after receiving a rapturous reception from Magpies supporters, having come on a substitute during the 3-1 win at Southampton last week, it now looks like the Paraguyan international has indeed played his last game for the club.

Manager Howe tried to play down talk that he encouraged Miggy to take Saturday's applause knowing it was his 'goodbye,' but his transfer back to the States is now seen as 'a done deal,' with the fact that other half Alexia and their son Francesco jetted off on Thursday. And, while she didn't indicate on her story just where they were headed, the timing only added fuel to the fire, given that Miggy has now agreed terms with his old club.

Just as speculation was increasing that Miggy, soon to be 31, was on his way out of Newcastle, the couple, who got married in 2016, enjoyed a romantic trip to Paris, with Alexia sharing stunning photos from their French break on her Instagram, including one of them of them looking very loved up in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Having been a key player in the 2022/3 season that saw United qualify for the Champion's League, scoring some crucial Premiership goals; Miggy's form dipped last year and Jacob Murphy's brilliant run on the right wing, has seen his first team chances limited this campaign.

After Saturday's away game at Southampton, Alexia took to Instagram on Sunday to share a post which read 'mi vida esta llena de bendiciones'. When translated from Spanish to English, it means 'my life is full of blessings.'
