Newcastle city centre salon gears up for Carabao Cup final with epic window display

by · ChronicleLive

There are now just days to go until the Carabao Cup final and a salon in the heart of Newcastle is getting in the mood for Wembley with a pretty epic window display, which features skipper Bruno Guimaraes and a homage to the late and great Sir Bobby Robson.

It's hard to believe that it's been more than a month since NUFC secured their spot at Wembley, when, after bringing back a commanding 2-0 lead from the first leg in London, Eddie Howe's men saw off opponents Arsenal by the same deficit at St James' Park, to line up a final against runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Over the last few weeks, while Newcastle's form might have faltered a bit, the enthusiasm and anticipation for Sunday's match is still at fever pitch, as close to 32,000 Geordies get ready to take their seats inside Wembley. Many unlucky fans who didn't actually manage to get tickets are also still expected to make the trip to the capital, with Covent Garden set to be the 'new Trafalgar Square' for a mass gathering on Saturday evening.

Back home in Newcastle city centre, there will be plenty of places to cheer the Magpies on on Tyneside, with an array of different fan zones ready to open their doors early on Sunday, with most of them long since sold out.

Sticking with the centre of town, if you wander past At Sisters salon on the corner of Pink Lane, you'll definitely be drawn to its window display, which features huge etchings of Brazilian star Bruno and the legendary Sir Bobby, with the former manager pictured next to those famous words words 'It's the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging. the pride in your city.'

And of course, no display themed around a United trip to Wembley would be complete without a few lines of 'tell me ma' - the song that is bound to be sang over and over again as supporters make their way down to London, either by train or coach at the weekend.
