Roy Keane has weighed in on the ongoing Premier League hearing involving Manchester City, dismissing all aspects other than the final decision as "a sideshow". The club, which faces allegations of financial misconduct, has consistently denied the charges, first brought against them in February 2023.

With over 100 charges to their name, City officials are confident in their "comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence" to exonerate them. The London-based hearing commenced in September and is expected to last approximately 10 weeks. However, a verdict may not be reached until early 2025 due to the panel's anticipated lengthy deliberation period.

Following the conclusion, there is an option for either side to appeal, potentially prolonging the process further. Nonetheless, there is hope that the matter will be settled by the season's end.

Last month, City's manager Pep Guardiola expressed his belief that rival Premier League clubs would welcome a punishment for City, with potential sanctions being unlimited. This could mean that, should City be found guilty of serious infractions, they might face severe consequences such as relegation or points deductions, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Like Guardiola, many City fans are upset by the pre-emptive assumptions of guilt from certain quarters, including some rival supporters and commentators. The City faithful maintain that judgement should be reserved until the final verdict is announced.

Former Manchester United captain Keane has weighed in on the recent developments surrounding Manchester City. Speaking on the Stick To Football podcast, he touched upon the outcome of the Associated Party Transaction (APT) case that came to light last week.

Keane referred to the ongoing financial charges hearing in London, separate from the APT case, saying: "Why don't we wait until the verdict comes out? " He continued, "We've been asking for it to come to a head, there will always be a bit of a sideshow... City's argument is, obviously, they've done nothing wrong. City have always said they've done nothing illegal. So we'll find out in the next few months."

Keane also suggested that if City are found innocent, the club might consider taking legal action against the Premier League for reputational damage, especially if charges were brought forward without sufficient evidence.
