19 windswept Ladies Day arrival photos as it's hold onto your hats time at Newcastle Racecourse

by · ChronicleLive

In stark contrast to the warm and sunny conditions that greeted revellers at Plate Day just a month ago, there was a dull and rather windy start to Ladies Day 2026 at Newcastle Racecourse on Saturday. But, we're happy to report, that while rain threatened, the less than perfect weather did not dampen the style.

An occasion that is both highly anticipated and can always re relied on to bring out some fabulous fashion, Ladies Day is without a doubt one of the biggest events in Newcastle's calendar every single year. It's a chance for the lads and lasses of Tyneside and the wider region to dress to impress, as they seek to have a great day out and hopefully win a few quid while they do so!

There was added incentive to get down to Newcastle Racecourse early on Saturday, (even if it was blowing a bit of a gale!) with the offer of half price drinks for the first hour after gates opened, seeing plenty of people arriving bang on 11am or just after. And it took no time at all for some fantastic outfits to make their entrance.

It was very much 'hold onto your hats' time up at Gosforth Park, as stylish ladies managed to strike a pose while holding onto their headwear and sporting some beautiful dresses, while we also spotted a few sharp suits amongst the lads. With some amazing prizes up for grabs in this year's Best Dressed contest, it was well worth making the effort.

We'll be bringing you loads of Ladies Day photos throughout the day, but for now have a look through our windswept arrival pictures below...
