by Matty Hewitt · ChronicleLiveNewcastle United supporters are still on cloud nine after winning the Carabao Cup Final against Liverpool on Sunday night.
Around 32,000 Geordies packed into Wembley Stadium to watch their team write their name into the history books as thousands more watched on from the North East and around the globe.
It was a historical evening for Eddie Howe and his side, with the win sparking the beginning of a new dawn. Chronicle Live captured some of the best scenes from Wembley in the build-up to the game and was out and about in Newcastle to capture the party on camera back home.
Chronicle Live has also taken a look at how Geordie celebrities responded to that memorable win.
Alan Shearer
The cameras at Wembley Stadium panned to Newcastle legend Alan Shearer throughout the game, who made it clear he wouldn't be working for the final.
His face was broadcast on the big screen throughout the game, drawing cheers from the travelling Toon Army but it was the images at full-time that will live long in the memory of black and white supporters. The Magpies legend shared a number of X-rated posts on social media during the game and after the win.
“I know I’m p***ed but …….”, he shared on Twitter. “Liverpool are a great club and will win the league and have been brilliant this season.
“But the Geordies absolutely smashed them today and deserved it!”
He had previously written in another X-rated post: “Toon Toon arrrmyyyyyyyyy. Ah man. Did the Geordies deserve that or what. That was f***ing amazing.”
Ant and Dec
Shearer wasn't the only member of Geordie royalty at the game, Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly were also in attendance and shared a brilliant clip on TikTok of them celebrating the win.
"Well? We did it!" Dec shouts at the camera, with Ant wheezing: "Toon Toon. I've lost my voice. Oh my god, this is amazing."
Dec then declared: "I can't believe it. This is the best day of my life. Apart from my wedding, and the kids. But it's the best day of my life!" Ant then gave him a slight look as Dec thought and added: "... After the wedding and the kids and all that! But it was the best day of my life!"
Sam Fender
Sam Fender was also active on social media following the Carabao Cup triumph, but couldn't be at Wembley due to his current European tour.
The North Shields singer was in Berlin in front of a packed out crowd, treating his fans to a special edition of his new track 'Little Bit Closer' adding a special Dan Burn twist.
Lyrics in the song from the band's latest People Watching album ask "What is God?" To which Sam proudly added: "His name's Dan Burn".
Sam shared a number of posts on social media saying: "Best day ever. We deserved it. 70 years. The clock has been reset. Howay the lads."
The band then took to the stage in their Toon tops, still emotional from the incredible game. Sharing a video of the band performing the new lyrics, Sam wrote: "I told them I'd do it. Come on BIG DAN BURN".
