BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks makes heartbreaking admission after reaching quarter final
by Olivia Wheeler · ChronicleLiveStrictly Come Dancing's Pete Wicks made a poignant admission on Monday's episode of It Takes Two. The 36 year old appeared alongside his dance partner Jowita Przystal as they discussed their journey to the quarter-finals of the BBC show.
Host Fleur East observed that although the judges gave positive feedback over the weekend, the pair seemed visibly let down with their score of 29. Pete said: "Listen, I mean it's obvious enough, I've said it a million times I think people are probably sick of me saying it. I'm obviously technically the weakest dancer here, that's completely and utterly fair. It would be nice to get over 30 occasionally and not be at the bottom but I think it's fairly understandable why I am!"
Elsewhere in the show, Jamie Borthwick and Michelle Tsiakkas gave their first interview post-departure, reflecting on their recent elimination. The actor Jamie, 30, and his dance partner Michelle, 29, were featured in the dreaded dance-off against Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe during the weekend results show, where the latter pair were saved by a unanimous judges' decision.
On Monday night, both Jamie and Michelle chatted with Fleur for their initial exit interview on It Takes Two. Michelle highlighted an unprecedented moment for her resulting from their exit.
Fleur remarked on the show: "It was the first time though that you faced the dreaded dance-off and your face said it all... talk us through the thoughts running through your mind at this moment.", reports the Mirror.
Jamie responded: "Oh well it's part of the Strictly experience, being top of the leaderboard, bottom of the leaderboard, dance-off, it was like we get to dance it again, let's go! " Michelle commented as well: "I've never been in a dance-off either so for me it was an experience as well that I wanted to go through. We did it, we enjoyed it, we've got the whole package now!"
Later, Fleur discussed viewer reactions about their scoring: "Despite the nine from Anton [Du Beke], viewers believe you were really undermarked not just on the weekend but during the whole competition, they had a lot to say."
She then shared comments from the audience, stating: "the judges are too harsh on Jamie that was genuinely amazing, I don't know why that didn't reflect in the scores" and another opinion saying "he has not been given fair markings compared to the others."
At this, both Jamie and Michelle expressed surprise, with Michelle adding: "You know what, I think when we peaked with our Paso [Doble], they were expecting technical perfection with each dance which I understand as the Paso was such a big moment."
"But it is difficult to achieve, especially with your busy schedule and everything. We did our best, you did your best and one thing I know, and I can say for sure, is that we genuinely and thoroughly enjoyed every single moment. Every single moment and that's what it's about. Even when the pressures were high and we were stressed, we still enjoyed it."
